ReGena-Vet Laboratories, LLC (RGVL) is a pioneer in the use of adult bone marrow stem cells, commonly referred to as mesenchymal stem cells or “MSCs”, in canine and feline diseases. RGVL regularly harvests adult bone marrow stem cells from veterinary patients (autologous) or donor animals (allogeneic) and investigates their therapeutic potential in carefully selected diseases. They are selected using three criteria: (1) the terminal nature of the disease; (2) a lack of alternative treatments; and (3) existing data in laboratory animals demonstrating the therapeutic potential of MSC treatments. Using these criteria, we initiated clinical trials in several terminal diseases. After the therapeutic benefit and safety of these treatments are documented, we will expand our investigational trials to other diseases.

ReGena-Vet uses cutting-edge regenerative medicine in canine and feline patients. RGVL provides two basic services: (1) preparing and treating local patients with adult bone marrow stem cells for our “in-house” clinical trials and/or (2) producing adult bone marrow stem cells for remote use by licensed veterinarians. Our expertise is collecting bone marrow, isolating mononuclear cells, amplifying and growing adult stem cells in our custom-designed laboratory facilities. We are using these cells to treat several terminal diseases as described in the Current Clinical Trials section.

Please Note: All stem cells are not the same! Contact ReGena-Vet to discuss why RGVL’s MSCs produced by our unique procedures may be more effective for treating  selected diseases. In comparison with most preparations, we use   larger numbers of high-quality, lower-passage MSCs which are felt to be superior by most scientists working in this field.

A further note: Stem cell therapy is still an experimental procedure and not “standard of care” in veterinary medicine.

There are major “gaps” in the treatment of many veterinary diseases such as degenerative myelopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and others. These diseases are currently  terminal unless a cure is identified. Adult stem cells offer the best hope at this time.
